Jidan Terry-Koon, Director, People, San Francisco Foundation
EOF Steering Committee member since 2021
As an artist and organizer from the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 25 years, I bring commitment to building grassroots power and love for creativity. Currently, I serve as Director of the People Pathway at the San Francisco Foundation amplifying groups that build political, economic, and cultural power towards an inclusive economy that invests in opportunity rather than criminalization, centralizes workers in shaping economy, and puts collective ownership in the hands of historically marginalized communities.
Prior to joining philanthropy, my work spanned delivering direct services for base building, youth organizing, grassroots policy advocacy, and integrated voter engagement with groups including the Youth Together, Movement Strategy Center, Oakland Unified School District, and Mobilize the Immigrant Vote. I also consulted on collective impact strategy for social justice groups as well as philanthropies including Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), Alliance for Educational Justice, Climate Justice Alliance, the National Center on Crime and Delinquency, Akonadi Foundation, and California Fund for Youth Organizing.
I have a BA in Political Science with a minor in Education from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters of Public Policy with a certificate in Urban and Regional Planning from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs. I live in Oakland, California with my husband, Bryant Terry and our two daughters.
