Arelia Valdivia, Organizing Manager, Center for Popular Democracy
Arelia Valdivia works as the Organizing Manager with the Worker Justice team at CPD. She works to grow the activist participation for worker justice campaigns, develop engagement ladders for our members and strengthen our leadership development program. Prior to joining CPD, Arelia worked as a Labor Organizer for 13 years. She started her career as an organizer on a campaign organizing warehouse workers in the Inland Empire region of Southern California and went on to organize with UNITEHERE Local 11 for 12 years. As a lead at UNITEHERE Local 11 she worked on campaigns to unionize hotels and airport concession companies, as well as political campaigns to elect labor allies and pass living wage and worker protection laws. She is a graduate of UCLA where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Chicana & Chicano Studies. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her partner.
