October FCCP Election Series Webinar
When looking at our issue advocacy strategies, how can we strengthen our understanding of the link between ballot initiatives, organizing, and civic engagement in ways that result in both ‘winning’ and building long term power? How do efforts like early voter education lay the foundation for issue based change to be effective? Join us for a conversation that helps break down these interrelated approaches. Leaders in the field will share how ballot initiatives are an integral part of issue advocacy, followed by how these measures are implemented in combination with community driven organizing through ways that lead to increased civic engagement. Experts will share ways to support local community leaders through examples like the Fair Wages & Healthy Families Act or Proposition 206 effort in Arizona, where groundwork to ensure coalitions and campaigns operationalized racial equity and inclusion throughout their organizing practices began in 2015.
