Creating Impact in the South: The EITC Policy Development Fund
Cosponsored Webinar | December 2018
How do grantmakers work collaboratively to fight poverty and economic instability in the South? By creating a shared strategy, selecting a targeted intervention, and allowing grantees time to build capacity to build toward long-term success. Launched in 2016, a unique pooled fund – the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Policy Development Fund – was designed to provide multi-year support to state-based organizations in the South working to lay the groundwork to develop or improve state EITCs. To date, $900,000 has been awarded to five Southern state networks to build capacity in policy development funds.
This webinar provided an opportunity to learn about the EITC Policy Development Fund, hear lessons learned from funders and awardees about how their efforts to expand access to state EITCs has transformed their ability to engage new allies in the effort to reduce poverty, and talk together about ways to apply these learnings to other topical areas or efforts in additional Southern states.
